Demetrio Stacchino
Demetrio was born in the lovely mountain town of Aosta in Northern Italy and began his career in hopitality in Switzerland at the age of 17. Many years of working and travelling throughout Europe and England followed until he arrived on our shores.
A change of direction included a chance to do something he had always wanted to do, work with his hands. Woodworking was his choice and it was love at first project.
Sourcing beautiful wood became part of the delight and refining and improving his skills was his constant challenge.
Demetrio is now mainly concentrating on making beautiful boxes and small furniture.All the wood used is chosen for its natural colour and beauty. No wood stains are ever used. Each box is designed to enhance a particular combination of timber. The boxes are all individually made and while some are similar, no two are ever identical. All the boxes are finised by hand by his wife Denise using a cobination of shellac, Danish oil and wax.
